課程概述

Content:
Classroom Activities: To achieve our goal, the class is wholly conducted in English and organized through language activities which cover a wide range of academic and personal issues so that you can engage fully in an English learning environment. Our classroom activities include pair work, group discussion, oral presentation, or essay writing following the reading of an article, listening to a lecture, or watching a video.
Pre-class Activities: Classroom activities rely heavily on your reading and research on the Internet. To prepare for our class, you are required to read the articles selected from news media and posted on our Ceiba website. You must also do related tasks designed to help you understand the articles and be informed about the topics.

課程目標
Objective: This is an integrated English course with the objective to help students improve their four skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking at a college level. It is designed with two basic premises: 1) that a second language is to be acquired through using it, and 2) that the four skills should be practiced in contextualized activities that have meaning and purpose to the learners. 
課程要求
Requirements:
1. All reading materials will be provided prior to class discussion or posted on the Ceiba website. Therefore, no textbooks are assigned in this course.
2. You are required to participate in class activities and give oral presentation at least once every semester.
3. You are also required to do in-class essay writing. If you fail to attend a writing session, you must hand in the make-up essay within a week.
4. You must read the English news articles on our Ceiba website and post your comments on them at least twice a week. Your comments will be counted and evaluated at the end of the semester.
5. You will be graded according to your attendance, class performance, and writing exercises.
